New Delhi: Honda Cars India Ltd. sold 7,212 vehicles in February 2026, down 30 per cent from 10,323 units in the same month last year. The drop came largely because exports fell sharply, even though domestic sales remained almost unchanged.
In India, the company sold 5,629 units, just 0.2 per cent higher than the 5,616 units sold in February 2025. Exports, however, declined 66 per cent to 1,583 units from 4,707 units a year ago. On a month-on-month basis, domestic sales were also lower than January 2026’s 6,193 units, marking a fall of a little over 9 per cent.
Domestic sales remain steadyHonda’s stable numbers in India were mainly supported by the Amaze sedan. The company says the model continues to attract buyers looking for a practical and safe option in the compact sedan segment. The City sedan and the Elevate SUV also added steady volumes during the month.
Commenting on the performance, Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., stated that the company maintained sales momentum through February, driven by strong demand for Amaze, while City and Elevate recorded steady traction. He added that as the fiscal year approaches its final month, the company remains optimistic about overall market performance.
Focus moves towards premium carsHonda is preparing a bigger product push in India over the next few years. The company has said it plans to introduce up to 10 new models in the country by 2030. The rollout will start from 2026, and it will not be limited to regular mass-market cars. Some models will be brought in as completely built-up units (CBUs), which usually means lower volumes and a higher price tag.
Among the first expected launches are the Honda Prelude, likely in the first half of 2026, and the Honda ZR-V later in the year. Both are hybrid models and are aimed at buyers who want something more upmarket than the current line-up. With these cars, Honda appears to be trying to strengthen its image in the premium space rather than just chase volumes.
