Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Naveen addressed a rally in Islampur in West Bengal’s North Dinajpur district on Monday. While addressing the public at the rally, he said that if his party comes to power in West Bengal, Bangladeshi infiltrators will be thrown out of the state. This work will be done under Assam’s ‘identify, remove name and send back’ model.

Launching BJP’s Parivartan Yatra in Islampur ahead of the Bengal Assembly elections, BJP President Naveen also announced at a rally that Islampur will be renamed ‘Ishwarpur’ if the BJP government comes to power. He said, ‘We have recently formed the government in Bihar. In Assam, we are adopting the model of ‘Detect, Delete and Deport’ to remove Bangladeshi infiltrators. Wherever these foreigners are snatching away the rights of our own citizens, we will enforce it there.

‘Islampur will not remain but will become Ishwarpur’

Nitin Naveen said, ‘Shout the conch shell for this Parivartan Yatra of BJP to convert Islampur into Ishwarpur. Now Islampur will not exist but will become Ishwarpur. Today, a fire is burning in the minds of people in every corner of Bengal and it is the fire of change. We will fight this battle on the streets. We will uproot this Mamata government of West Bengal. This journey is of 5,000 kilometers. This yatra will go to every corner of Bengal and we will raise our voice against the betrayal that has happened to the people of Bengal.

Addressed in the name of the people of Ishwarpur

Throughout his speech, Nitin Naveen kept addressing the people present in the rally as ‘people of Ishwarpur’. Naveen further said, ‘We will fulfill your dream of changing the name of this place to Ishwarpur, as it has been the land of Rajbanshi reformer Thakur Panchanan Burma, Lakshman Sen, the last Hindu king of Bengal and revolutionary freedom fighter Purna Chandra Das.’

Targeted alleged Bangladeshis

Referring to the recent deletion of names in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bengal, Naveen claimed that the Election Commission has already taken away the voting rights of ‘more than 50 lakh Bangladeshi infiltrators’ in Bengal. He said that if the Election Commission had not removed the names of more than 50 lakh Bangladeshis, the infiltrators would have got the benefits of the Centre’s welfare schemes for the people of Bengal.
