In preparation for the Holi festival, a comprehensive cleanliness drive is scheduled to take place across all Gram Panchayats from March 2 to 4. The campaign aims to improve sanitation in rural areas and prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria.

Officials have been instructed to carry out thorough cleaning of public event venues, ghats, ponds, Amrit Sarovars, and bathing sites. Measures such as fogging and anti-larval spraying will be implemented to control mosquito populations, while proper disposal of waste generated during the festivities will be ensured.

District Magistrates (DMs) and Chief Development Officers (CDOs) will actively monitor the progress of the campaign to maintain high standards of hygiene. Panchayati Raj Department officials have emphasized that all garbage must be collected and managed through Rural Resource Centers established within the Gram Panchayats.

The drive also includes identifying waterlogged areas and implementing permanent drainage solutions to prevent stagnant water, which can contribute to vector-borne diseases. Local Gram Panchayats have been assigned responsibilities for the maintenance and safety of riverbanks, ponds, and other ghats, including repairs, painting, and ensuring secure public access.

Officials are expected to conduct the cleaning and sanitation work both prior to and after the Holi celebrations, ensuring that public spaces remain safe and hygienic throughout the festival period. The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to improve rural sanitation and reduce health risks associated with mass gatherings and seasonal waterborne and mosquito-related illnesses.

By combining preventive measures, active monitoring, and community involvement, the initiative seeks to create a cleaner and safer environment for residents participating in Holi festivities, while also strengthening local sanitation infrastructure and hygiene practices.
