Thalapathy Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on Monday attacked the ruling DMK. Taking a dig at DMK in Chennai, a party leader said that without Congress, it would be difficult for DMK to win even 25 to 30 seats in the elections.
Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam leader Nirmal Kumar claimed that the DMK’s current strength largely depends on its allies. He said that DMK cannot win the state assembly elections alone.
TVK told the ground reality
Speaking to the media in the capital Chennai, Nirmal Kumar said, ‘If Congress was not there, DMK would not have been able to cross 25 to 30 seats. This is today’s ground reality. Even in 2006, DMK could not have crossed 30 seats without Congress. Chief Minister MK Stalin knows this very well.
Congress respected throughout Tamil Nadu
Nirmal Kumar described Congress as a natural partner. He said that Congress is respected throughout Tamil Nadu and DMK leaders are criticized by the people in the state. He alleged that DMK did not respect Congress and hence there was a problem in the alliance.
He further said, ‘DMK is very scared after seeing the ground situation and survey of TVK. That is why they are trying their best to include anyone in their alliance. Even including parties like DMDK, which no one used to include in their alliance. At the same time, targeting BJP, TVK Nirmal Kumar said that it does religion-based politics. Also said that this type of politics of BJP will not work in Tamil Nadu.
