Malaysia Airlines confirmed on Monday that all its flights to London and Paris were running as scheduled despite rising tensions in West Asia. While other global airlines have suspended or rerouted their flights due to increasing instability in the region, Malaysia Airlines has assured continuation of its services.
“We have implemented alternative flight routes to avoid the affected airspace, while maintaining the highest safety standards. While this may result in slightly longer flight times, the safety of passengers and crew remains our top priority,” the airline said in a statement on X.
At the same time, Malaysia Airlines also said that its teams are ready to help those passengers who need urgent travel or who are affected by regional disruptions. The airline advised passengers to update their contact details and access information through the “My Booking” section to get timely notifications about their flights.
This statement by Malaysia Airlines comes at a time when other major airlines like IndiGo, Akasa Air, Qatar Airways and Emirates have suspended their services or changed routes to many destinations in the Middle East.
IndiGo has temporarily suspended its international flights operating from parts of the Middle Eastern airspace till March 7, 2026, and has also provided waivers and flexible rescheduling options to passengers. Akasa Air has suspended flights to and from Jordan, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait and Riyadh for March 3. Qatar Airways has also halted operations due to the closure of Qatar airspace.
Emirates has temporarily suspended operations to and from Dubai until noon on March 3 and has offered affected passengers rebooking or a full refund. The reason for these disruptions is the US-Israeli military attacks on Iran following increased tensions in West Asia, which killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family. Iran also retaliated by using drones and missiles targeting several Arab countries in the region, due to which the airspace of the entire region was closed and international aviation was affected.
