Real Madrid have provided an update on Kylian Mbappe as the striker continues his recovery from a knee injury that has cast doubt over his participation in the forthcoming Champions League match against Manchester City.
Mbappe, 27, has been grappling with damage to the external ligament of his left knee since the close of 2025 and was absent from last Wednesday's Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica due to "persistent pain" during training.
The French international has also been omitted from the squad for Monday's La Liga fixture against Getafe, sparking worries that he may not be fit for next Wednesday's Round of 16 first leg clash at home to City.

With Mbappe now missing his second consecutive match, Real issued a statement regarding his condition ahead of the game against Getafe at Santiago Bernabeu - stating that "conservative treatment" is set to continue.
Real announced on the club's website: "Following the tests conducted on our player Kylian Mbappe by French specialist doctors, under the supervision of Real Madrid's Medical Services, the diagnosis of a sprain in the left knee and the suitability of the conservative treatment being followed are confirmed. Pending evolution."
The news from Real arrives just hours after it was revealed that Mbappe has been "angered" by the club's handling of his ongoing knee issue. According to MARCA, Mbappe sought advice from a specialist in France last week, having been "not entirely satisfied" with the role Real's medical team have played in his recovery efforts.
This meant that Mbappe missed Vinicius Jr's goal in Real's 2-1 victory over Benfica in the Champions League, though he could return to watch his team take on Getafe as they aim to reignite their La Liga title campaign.
Mbappe first reported a problem with his left knee in early December but persevered through the discomfort to make 12 appearances across all competitions for Real before being compelled to sit out the last two.
Whilst there was an initial hope that Mbappe could be back for the first leg against City, MARCA suggest that the former Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain player is 'more likely' to only be fit in time for the second leg on March 17.
City journey to the Bernabeu on March 11 before welcoming Los Blancos at the Etihad Stadium six days later.
Mbappe has been in sensational form for Real this season, netting an impressive 38 goals in 33 matches. However, he failed to score in his most recent outing, a 2-1 loss at Osasuna on February 21.
