Luke Kornet Urges Atlanta Hawks to Reconsider Magic City Collaboration

Luke Kornet, a center for the San Antonio Spurs, has called on the Atlanta Hawks to cancel their planned promotion with Magic City, an adult entertainment club, expressing concern over the implications of such an association.
Kornet articulated that the collaboration, scheduled for March 16 during a game against the Orlando Magic, could negatively reflect on the NBA community by contributing to the objectification and mistreatment of women.
Concerns Over Objectification
In a blog post published Monday, Kornet highlighted that many individuals in the adult entertainment industry endure abuse, harassment, and violence, which should not be tolerated. He emphasized the need for the NBA community to maintain a stance against such practices.
Details of the Promotion
The Atlanta Hawks had announced the promotion last week, which includes a live performance by Atlanta rapper T.I., alongside offerings such as two versions of Magic City's famous chicken wings and a special hoodie for fans to purchase.
Kornet's Appeal to the Hawks
Kornet criticized the Hawks' press release for failing to acknowledge that Magic City is marketed as 'Atlanta's premier strip club.' He urged the team to reconsider the promotion, stating, "We desire to provide an environment where fans of all ages can safely come and enjoy the game of basketball and where we can celebrate the history and culture of communities in good conscience."
He concluded by asserting that the celebration of a strip club contradicts the vision of creating a welcoming atmosphere for all basketball fans.
