The first semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2026 will be held between South Africa and New Zealand on March 4 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Proteas team has not lost any match in the tournament so far. Under the leadership of Aiden Markram, they secured their place in the Super-8 by defeating India, West Indies and Zimbabwe. In T20, out of 19 matches of both the teams, South Africa won 12, while New Zealand got success in 7.
Markram scored 268 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 175. Ryan Rickelton’s 228 runs (171 SR) and Quinton de Kock’s aggressive start made the batting strong. In bowling, Lungi Ngidi took 12 wickets and Corbin Bosch took 11 wickets. Tim Seifert scored 216 runs (157 SR) for New Zealand. Rachin Ravindra became the all-rounder, Glenn Phillips took over the innings. Mitchell Santner, Matt Henry and Lockie Ferguson performed brilliantly with the ball.
This match will test strategy and form. It will be exciting to see whether South Africa will maintain its unbeaten streak or New Zealand will cause an upset. Who will emerge ahead in the race for the finals?
