Macquarie Asset Management, Gabia to invest $410 million in South Korean data centre platform

As per the agreement signed on February 25, ​Macquarie Group and Gabia are set to ⁠invest over ‌the next ​four ​to six years. The platform is targeting more than 100 megawatts ​of data centre capacity across key ​metropolitan and regional locations in South Korea.

The asset management arm of Australia's Macquarie Group said on Tuesday it will develop a ‌next-generation ⁠hyperscale data ⁠centre platform in South Korea with Gabia at a combined investment of 600 billion won ($410 million).

Under the agreement signed on February 25, the firms are set to ⁠invest over ‌the next four to six years, as ⁠the platform targets more than 100 megawatts of data-centre capacity across key metropolitan and regional locations in South Korea.

Over the course of the partnership, Macquarie Asset Management will lead financing ‌activities, including site acquisition, while Gabia, through its unit, will manage end-to-end service ⁠operations such as data centre design.


The partnership's first project will be the Ansan Data Center, a 40 MW facility, according to Macquarie Asset Management's statement. ($1 = 1,463.3000 won)
