The effect of the lunar eclipse will be visible across the country on Tuesday, March 3. Especially in the temples of the country, it will be considered special and the rules of the eclipse will be followed as per the rules and regulations. Due to the impact of lunar eclipse, Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar Jyotirling temples, the pilgrimage city of Khandwa district in Madhya Pradesh, will remain closed from 3 pm to 7 pm. It is being told that after the lunar eclipse, after cleaning the temple from 7 pm to 8 pm, devotees will be able to visit the temple from 8 pm onwards.

The priests of the temple say that generally during any eclipse the doors of Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar temples remain closed. After the eclipse ends, the temples are cleaned and purified with Narmada water. At the same time, Bhole Baba is bathed and adorned with Jalabhishek. Then after offering bhog and performing Aarti of the Lord, the devotees are allowed to come for darshan.

The sanctum sanctorum will remain closed for five hours

The most important thing during the eclipse is that the sanctum sanctorum is completely restricted for everyone. During this period no person stays in the sanctum sanctorum. This time due to the lunar eclipse on Tuesday, the sanctum sanctorum will remain closed for about five hours. Devotees will not be able to have darshan during this period. The doors of the temple will remain closed from 3 pm to 7 pm.

Omkareshwar Temple Committee has already issued information regarding ban on darshan during lunar eclipse. So that the devotees coming to Omkareshwar do not get disturbed without any reason and they can easily have darshan after the doors are opened.

There is a tradition to have darshan of God after the eclipse, that first of all, after the eclipse ends, the devotees take bath in the Narmada river. Only after this they reach the temple for darshan and worship.

The information issued by the temple trust is as follows

  • Morning Mangala Aarti from 04 am to 05 am.
  • Flowers/Bel leaves and water will be brought out for darshan from 05 am to 03 pm.
  • There will be only darshan in the sanctum sanctorum, Jalabhishek or other worship materials will not be offered.
  • Midday Bhog will not be offered as per Aarti time from 12:20 pm to 01:00 pm.
  • The doors of the temple will remain closed from 3 pm to 7 pm during the eclipse period.
  • After the eclipse, there will be purification and cleaning of the temple from 07 pm to 08 pm.
  • Darshan will start from 08 pm to 10 pm.
  • Shayan Aarti will take place from 10 pm to 10:30 pm.
  • The doors will be closed after the Aarti.
