Islamabad: Large-scale protests are taking place in Pakistan after the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In view of this, America has taken a tough step. All visa and American citizen services appointments scheduled for March 2 at the US Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate General Office in Karachi-Lahore have been cancelled.
This decision has been taken after the attacks and protests on American embassies and consulates in the country. This ban has been imposed indefinitely. American officials have made it clear that they are keeping an eye on anti-American protests across the country.
According to Pakistani media reports, 23 people have lost their lives so far in the protests across the country after Khamenei's assassination. Of these, 10 people were killed in the firing in front of the American Consulate in Karachi. At the same time, 11 people died in Skardu district of Gilgit-Baltistan occupied by Pakistan. Two people were also killed in Islamabad. The protesters also set fire to the offices of United Nations (UN) agencies in Skardu and Gilgit.
