New Delhi: In a massive sigh of relief for her family, friends and the whole country, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu returned safely home to Bengaluru after a horrific few days in Dubai, where she was left stranded due to the US-Israel bombing of Iran.

The military conflict led to the closure of the airspace in the Gulf region following Iran’s retaliation.

Sindhu, who was flying to the UK from India via Dubai to participate in the All England Championships, was stuck in Dubai since Saturday, February 28.

The two-time Olympic medallist reportedly survived a scare after an explosion occurred near the place of their stay on March 1.

Sindhu shared a social media post on Tuesday morning (March 3) and revealed that she was back in India. She thanked the ground teams, Dubai authorities, airport staff and immigration for ensuring her safe passage.

“The last few days have been intense and uncertain, but I’m truly grateful to be back to my house. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible ground teams, Dubai authorities, airport staff, immigration, and every single person who stepped up and took such good care of us during a very difficult time. The empathy and professionalism meant more than words can say.

For now, it’s time to rest, reset, and figure out the next steps,” she wrote on social media.

While Sindhu returned home to safety, she will miss the all-important All England Championships, starting on March 3 in Birmingham. In her absence, the men’s singles star Lakshya Sen will lead India’s charge in England.
