Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission has allocated sector wise targets to the training providers under the NSDC scheme. Emphasis has been laid on providing employment-oriented skill training to the youth through 600 hours of training, portal based attendance and strict quality standards.

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) has allocated sector wise targets to training providers (ITPs). This process has been completed under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) scheme. The objective of the government is to provide industry based and employment oriented training to the youth by implementing skill development programs in mission mode. In the office memorandum issued by the Directorate, Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, it is clearly stated that all the training providers will have to complete the set target on time by following the prescribed conditions and quality standards.

Sector based target allocation: Transparent process and focus on industry demand

Training institutes are given targets based on their past performance and order of application. For example:

  • Welspun Living Limited (Bareilly) has been given a target of 200 in the apparel sector.
  • Imarticus Learning Private Limited (Jalaun) has achieved the target of 100-100 in healthcare and apparel sector.
  • Skilled Tailoring Institute by Raymond (Lucknow) has been allotted a target of 50.

It is clear from this that the government is giving priority to sector based skill training as per the needs of the industries, so that the youth can be directly linked to employment.

Training period, quality standards and monitoring arrangements

The training duration under the skill development program has been fixed at a maximum of 600 hours. Training for at least 8 hours daily will be mandatory in residential training centres. Verification on the portal will be necessary before starting the training. Every training provider will have to be affiliated with the respective Sector Skill Council and provide training as per the standard curriculum. Evaluation will also be done through the respective Sector Skill Council only. This system has been implemented to maintain the quality of training and strengthen outcome based monitoring.

NSDC/SDMS Portal Based Attendance and Payment System

It has been made mandatory to register the attendance and other necessary information of the trainees on the NSDC/SDMS portal. The grant amount will be released only after completion of verification. If any negligence or irregularity is found by any training provider, strict action will be taken against him as per rules.

Yogi government's employment-centric skill development policy

The state government is working on a strategy to directly link skill development with employment generation. The skill ecosystem is being strengthened through training as per the demand of the industries, private sector participation and digital monitoring system. It has also been made clear in the memorandum that it will be mandatory to complete all the set targets within the respective financial year. Failure to meet the target may impact future allocations.
