Soak in plain water
According to Sangam Shukla, one should not start directly with detergent while removing Holi colors. First take enough water to submerge the clothes in a tub. Soak the clothes in it for four to five hours. If the color is too dark and solid, you can soak it overnight. This loosens the dye trapped in the fabric fibers and makes further processing easier.
Bleaching powder and baking soda
Take out the soaked clothes and wring them out lightly. Take clean water in another bucket and mix two to three spoons of bleaching powder in it. Add two to three teaspoons of baking soda and regular detergent to it. This mixture works effectively on blemishes and helps to lighten the color.
Soaking in bleach water and keeping in the sun
Now completely immerse the clothes in this prepared solution. Keep it for about twenty minutes. It is beneficial to place the bucket in the sun to increase the effect of the bleach. Bleach works faster because of the sun. After a while, move the clothes around in the water, so that the solution reaches every part.
Brush and rinse with clean water
After exposure to the sun, gently scrub the stain with a laundry brush. Then take out the clothes, wring them out and wash them thoroughly in clean water. Bleach and detergent must be completely removed.

After dyeing, wash the clothes again in clean water. In the last step, take water in a tub and mix oxalic granules in it and let it dissolve completely. Keep the clothes in this solution for a few minutes. The use of oxalic acid can produce odors and gases, so the process should be carried out in a well-ventilated area. Finally, wash the clothes two to three times with clean water and dry them in the shade.
