Punjab Police have intensified their ongoing campaign targeting organized crime, conducting widespread operations across the state. On the 41st day of the initiative, authorities carried out 409 raids at locations linked to associates of gangsters, identifying and mapping these sites in advance to ensure strategic action.
During the latest operations, police arrested 132 individuals and seized five weapons from their possession. Since the launch of the campaign, the total number of arrests has reached 12,335, highlighting the scale and persistence of the enforcement effort.
The campaign, aimed at curbing organized crime and disrupting criminal networks, has involved coordinated actions across multiple districts, combining intelligence gathering with targeted raids. Police officials emphasized that the initiative is designed to address the broader threat posed by criminal gangs, focusing on both primary suspects and their associates.
While the campaign has received significant attention for the volume of arrests and raids, some observers have raised questions about the long-term effectiveness of such operations in addressing underlying criminal networks. Analysts note that while immediate enforcement actions can disrupt gang activities, systemic measures such as community policing, witness protection, and judicial follow-up are essential to sustain the impact.
Authorities report that raids are conducted based on mapped intelligence and that operations prioritize both public safety and minimizing civilian disruption. The campaign has also highlighted challenges in balancing aggressive enforcement with adherence to procedural and legal safeguards.
Officials indicate that ongoing monitoring and follow-up actions will continue as part of the broader strategy to reduce organized crime in Punjab. The state government and law enforcement agencies maintain that the campaign’s goal is to restore safety and disrupt criminal influence without compromising due process.
The initiative represents one of the largest coordinated police operations in recent years in the state, reflecting both the scale of organized crime and the resources deployed to counter it.
