Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that a sense of security and mutual respect among citizens reflects the idea of Ram Rajya, as he addressed a gathering during the Bhakt Prahlad Shobha Yatra in
Gorakhpur ahead of Holika Dahan celebrations. Extending Holi greetings, he urged people to celebrate the festival with harmony, restraint, and respect for others.
Speaking at Pandeyehata, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh today is witnessing an environment where people can participate in festivals without fear or disruption. He contrasted the present situation with earlier years, when, according to him, festivals were often marked by tension, curfews, and restrictions. His remarks focused on public order, social trust, and the ability of citizens to celebrate cultural events peacefully.
Referring to the broader national context, the Chief Minister said that while many parts of the world are experiencing instability, India is projecting a vision of growth and opportunity under the leadership of Prime Minister
Narendra Modi. He noted that development and celebration can coexist when governance ensures security and access to opportunities for different sections of society.
During his address, the Chief Minister also spoke about urban development works underway in Gorakhpur, particularly the Heritage Corridor project. He said the project aims to improve infrastructure, ease congestion, and revive commercial activity in the area. According to him, affected traders are being allotted shops near Bandhu Singh Park, while additional facilities are planned near the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET). He added that the objective is rehabilitation and improved livelihoods rather than displacement.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the corridor, once a key commercial route connecting eastern Uttar Pradesh with Bihar and Nepal, had suffered due to congestion and inadequate facilities. With road widening and planned façade lighting, the area is expected to regain its economic significance.
Drawing from the story of Bhakt Prahlad and Holika Dahan, the Chief Minister spoke about the symbolic triumph of righteousness over injustice. He said social discipline and collective responsibility are essential for maintaining order and harmony.
After the address, the Chief Minister performed aarti of Bhakt Prahlad’s image and participated in Holi celebrations by showering flower petals on the crowd. He also appealed to citizens to avoid forced application of colors, refrain from playing objectionable songs, and ensure that Holi remains a festival of unity and goodwill.
