New Delhi. Indian cricket fans witnessed a memorable moment in the T20 World Cup 2026, when Sanju Samson took Team India to the semi-finals. Before this occasion, Rohit Sharma had given memorable advice to Samson – Don’t be sad, brother, this tournament is long, the opportunity can come any time.
T20 World Cup 2026 started on 7 February at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. On that day, India’s first match was played against America. Rohit Sharma, who was the brand ambassador of this tournament, was present on the field. Sanju Samson was not in the playing eleven at that time, but Rohit had told him that he too may get a chance and should be prepared for it.
Sanju Samson was definitely a part of the winning team of T20 World Cup 2024, but he did not play in that tournament. Despite joining the team in 2026, Samson sat out the five-match T20 series against New Zealand due to poor performance. In such a situation, Rohit’s advice proved to be a matter of encouragement for him.
ICC shared the video of Rohit and Samson on February 7, in which Rohit says, “Don’t be sad, this is a long tournament, the opportunity can come any time.” And Samson replies, I’m fine. This advice became an inspiration for Sanju.
