US-Iran War : The assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei in the US and Israel attack has pushed the Middle East towards a major crisis, as Iran is targeting US military bases in the Gulf countries after the assassination of its leader. Meanwhile, the opposition in India is raising questions about PM Narendra Modi’s silence on Khamenei’s assassination. Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that PM Modi should speak. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi wrote in X Post, ‘The growing hostility between America, Israel and Iran is pushing a delicate region towards a major conflict. Crores of people, including nearly 10 million Indians, are facing uncertainty. Although security concerns are real, attacks that violate sovereignty will further escalate the crisis. Unilateral attacks on Iran, as well as Iran’s attacks on other Middle East countries, must be condemned. Violence begets violence – dialogue and restraint are the only paths to peace.
Rahul further wrote, ‘India should be morally clean. We must have the courage to speak clearly in defense of international law and human life. Our foreign policy is – and must remain – based on sovereignty and the peaceful resolution of disputes. PM Modi should speak. Does he support the assassination of a head of state as a way to rule the world? Now silence lowers India’s status in the world.
