Jordan Henderson in thick of ugly scenes as Bournemouth vs Brentford descends into chaos

Jordan Henderson was caught up in a huge melee following Brentford's 0-0 draw at Bournemouth. With little in the way of entertainment happening across the 90 minutes, it all kicked off at full-time.

Players, coaches and managers were involved as Henderson, 35, had to be held back while arguing with one of Bournemouth's staff. The England international had played the first hour of the Premier League clash.

The melee appeared to start with a disagreement between the both sets of coaching teams. Henderson walked down from the substitutes' bench and got involved alongside team-mate Ethan Pinnock.

Soon enough, Brentford boss Keith Andrews got caught up in the scuffle. Andrews and his opposite number, Andoni Iraola, played peacemakers, as the chaos eventually turned into a shouting match before fizzling out.

Post-match, Andrews said that he had 'no idea' what caused the scrap. Iraola suggested that the disagreement was between Henderson and one of his coaches, Shaun Cooper.

The game itself was less eventful, with the two sides generating a combined 2.49 expected goals. Bournemouth had more of the chances but forgot to bring their shooting boots.

But it's now nine games unbeaten for the Cherries, who moved up to ninth place. For Brentford, the draw was a far cry from Saturday's thilling 4-3 win at at Burnley.

Henderson told TNT Sports: "I thought it was a good game. Maybe both will be disappointed they didn't win the game. Overall we felt comfortable but they had decent chances, they hit the post and had a goal disallowed. I still felt we had our moments. So maybe a draw was a fair result in the end."

The ex-Liverpool captain looked to be frustrated when he was substituted in the 62nd minute. "Did I? That's normal," Henderson replied.

"We've learnt from mistakes in the first half of the season. We're in a pretty good place at the moment. We just need to keep improving.

"For us it's about staying humble and doing all the things we've done this season which is working hard for each other. But also just playing with the confidence and freedom to try and win games."
