Bike showrooms in Bengaluru cheated hundreds of customers of crores of rupees on the pretext of subsidy. The accused embezzled approximately Rs 35 crore by taking loans in the name of customers without their knowledge. Police have registered the case and started investigation.
Bengaluru: A big fraud case has come to light from Bengaluru. Here the bike showroom owners defrauded hundreds of customers of crores of rupees. He had promised to provide electric bike on subsidy of Central Government. Separate cases have been registered in this matter at Peenya and Bagalgunte police stations. A case has been registered against Rakesh, Hanumant Bilkar and others, owners of 'Aapai EV' showroom and bike showroom named 'Bilkar Technology'. Officials said that investigation into the matter has been started. There is a serious allegation against the accused of fraud of about Rs 35 crore.
The owners of 'Aapai EV' showroom lured about 3,250 people into the trap of loans by luring them with subsidies. The accused assured the customers that they would have to pay a deposit of only Rs 20,000 and the remaining amount would be covered through the subsidy from the Central Government.
Strong performance by customers
When customers came to know that there was a loan worth lakhs of rupees in their name, they were shocked. After this, on Tuesday, customers went from Jalahalli Metro Station to the bank's head office M.G. Protested by taking out a big bike rally till the road. Hundreds of customers participated in this demonstration. It is alleged that the showroom owners took Aadhaar and PAN cards from the customers on the pretext of giving them the bike. Then without informing the customers, they got the loan passed in their name from the bank. A loan of Rs 1.50 lakh was taken in the customer's name for a modest EV bike worth just Rs 35,000 and the money was withdrawn from the bank.
