Renuka Singh Ruled Out Of Test Against Australia: The Indian women’s cricket team, which was on Australia tour, got a sudden shock when senior pacer Renuka Singh Thakur was ruled out of the only test against the Kangaroo team due to workload management. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia said in a statement that Kashvi Gautam has been selected in place of Renuka.
Decision taken due to workload management
Devjit Saikia said in the statement, ‘Team India’s pacer Renuka Thakur has been ruled out of the one-off Test to be held at the WACA Ground in Perth, which is part of the current multi-format series against the Australia women’s team. To manage her workload better, Renuka has been advised rest and will not be available for selection for the pink-ball test. The BCCAI medical team will closely monitor Renuka’s fitness progress.
Kashvi Gautam gets a chance
Saikia further said, ‘The Women’s Selection Committee has selected Kashvi Gautam in her place. Kashvi was also a part of the ODI team in the ongoing multi-format series. The test match is starting from Friday 6th March. Kashvi has played 6 ODI matches for India, in which she has taken 3 wickets, and has 19 wickets in 18 Women’s Premier League matches. On the current Australia tour, India won the T20 International series 2-1 and faced a clean sweep in the 3-match ODI series.
Previous record in test
India played the last Test in Australia in 2021, which was a draw in Carrara. Recently in 2023, India hosted Australia at Wankhede, Mumbai, and registered their first Test win against Australia. Indian fans will be hoping for a positive result in this test match.
