A member of the selection panel has resigned after Pakistan’s elimination from the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He was miffed with the authority of the head coach, Mike Hesson, and the silence of the committee member Aqib Javed.
Pakistan’s Super 8 match against New Zealand was called off due to rain, while they lost to England. Although the Men in Green registered a win over Sri Lanka in their last Super 8 match, their failure to improve the Net Run Rate allowed New Zealand to make it to the semifinals.
According to a Geo News report, Aleem Dar has left the selection committee after being sidelined. He was not in favour of the inclusion of Babar Azam, Shadab Khan and Usman Khan in the World Cup team.
In four innings, Babar scored 91 runs and was dropped from the team in the contest against Sri Lanka. Shadab amassed 183 runs and took five wickets.
Dar wanted Mohammad Rizwan in the team. The report highlighted that Aqib aligned with Hesson’s views, while Misbah-ul-Haq remained silent during crucial matters. Dar was isolated, and his contributions were not valued.
He was a part of the panel for 17 months. Pakistan qualified for the Super 8 stage after winning three matches, with their only defeat coming against India. In the second round, Salman Ali Agha’s team was not dominating.
