New Delhi. BJP has announced its four more candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections today. These four candidates are from Maharashtra. Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde have been made Rajya Sabha candidates from Maharashtra. Apart from these, the name of former Nagpur Mayor Maya Chintaman Evenate is also in the list of candidates. Maya Chintaman, who comes from the tribal community, has previously worked as a member of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. The fourth name in the list is that of Maharashtra BJP leader Ramrao Vadkule.
Earlier on Tuesday, BJP had declared 9 candidates from 6 states. BJP national president Nitin Nabin’s name was also there in it. BJP has made Nitin Nabin the Rajya Sabha candidate from Bihar. It is noteworthy that 37 Rajya Sabha seats in 10 states are falling vacant in April. Elections are to be held only on these vacant seats of Rajya Sabha. Maximum 7 seats are becoming vacant in Maharashtra. Names of four candidates have been declared, three names are yet to be announced. Among the candidates declared so far, BJP has also made Shivesh Kumar its candidate from Bihar. Whereas BJP has made Terash Gowala and Jogesh Mohan as Rajya Sabha candidates from Assam.
Similarly, the names of Sanjay Bhatia from Haryana and Rahul Sinha from West Bengal have been announced. The names of Manmohan Samal and Sujit Kumar have been announced from Odisha. Lakshmi Verma has been declared candidate from Chhattisgarh. Tomorrow i.e. March 5 is the last date for filing nominations for Rajya Sabha elections. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on March 6. March 9 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Voting will take place on March 16 from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes will begin at 5 pm on the same day.
