Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has termed the Congress' first list of candidates as an embodiment of dynastic politics. The Congress last week released its first list of candidates for 42 constituencies which includes APCC president Gaurav Gogoi and Leader of Opposition in the Assam assembly Debabrata Saikia.

"If you look at the Congress' list of candidates, it is a reflection of dynastic politics. The list includes Gaurav Gogoi, son of former chief minister late Tarun Gogoi, Debabrata Saikia, son of former chief minister Hiteswar Saikia, Prateek Bardoloi, son of Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bardoloi, Tanzil Hussain, son of Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain and many more," said the Assam chief minister.

He also drew a parallel of the Congress' list with the BJP's list for the Rajya Sabha elections and said that against the dynastic politics of Congress, the BJP list includes commoners like Terash Gowala and Jogen Mahan, who come from humble backgrounds.
