Gorakhpur. Police has got a big success in the sensational case of brutal murder of wife in Khajni police station area. Accused Ashok Nishad, wanted under Section 103(1) BNS, was arrested on Wednesday morning. This action was taken as part of the campaign being run on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police.

According to the press note, under the supervision of Superintendent of Police South and Area Officer Khajni, Inspector in-charge Jayant Kumar Singh May’s team arrested accused Ashok Nishad, son of Tufani Nishad, resident of Dhadhupar, who was wanted in FIR No. 64/26, registered at Khajni police station. The accused was caught on March 04, 2026 at 09:15 am near the kiln located in the south direction of Dhadhupar village.

According to the police, the accused had killed his wife Neelam Devi (aged about 40 years) with a shovel after a domestic dispute. As soon as information about the incident was received, there was a sensation in the area. The police was busy searching for the accused after registering a case on the complaint of the deceased’s maternal side.

The team formed under the leadership of Inspector-in-charge Jayant Kumar Singh showed proactivity and arrested the accused on the basis of accurate information.

The arrest team included Sub Inspector Ramdayal Yadav, Female Sub Inspector Preeti Yadav, Head Constable Anil Chaudhary, Constable Jitendra Yadav and Constable Manish Kumar.

Police said that apart from the above case, no other criminal history has been found against the accused. After completing the necessary legal proceedings, the accused is being presented before the Honorable Court.

There was an atmosphere of panic in the area after this heinous incident, but the villagers heaved a sigh of relief with the speedy arrest of the accused. Police officials say that the campaign against criminals will continue with the same strictness.
