Maharashtra: Nagpur woman pours boiling water on 4-year-old grandson for spraying colours on her

New Delhi: In a shocking case reported from Maharashtra’s Nagpur, a woman allegedly poured hot water on a child after he sprayed her with paint on Holi. The child is the grandson of the woman. The incident was reported from the Koradi area of Nagpur district, said police.

Boy burnt badly, complaint yet to be lodged

The incident happened in Ward No. 2 of the Aramshin area on March 3 and was captured on CCTV cameras, said a report in NDTV. The victim has been identified as 4-year-old Om Harish Wange. He was playing outside his house with a spray bottle filled with paint.

Wange, allegedly sprayed the paint on his grandmother, which angered the woman. The grandmother, Sindhu Thackeray, was reportedly filling a bucket with water and heating it on Holi wood. The boy allegedly poured paint on her and this enraged the woman. She poured the boiling water from the bucket on the child.

The child was reportedly burnt below his waist and has suffered 45 per cent burn injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital and is currently receiving treatment there.

The boy lives with his maternal uncles and grandmother for schooling. His parents work in Chankapur, Khaparkheda.

Police to register case against woman

Police have started the process to register a case against the woman.

A report in the Times of India, quoted Zonal DCP Sandeep Pakhale as saying, “It seems to be a case of sudden provocation, the boy splashed the coloured water on her and she reacted in anger. Not premeditated but still reckless.”
