Iran-US-Israel War: Middle East Amidst the ongoing tension, the methods of war are also seen changing rapidly. Now not only missiles and bombs, but also strategy and the idea of targeting weaknesses is in discussion. In this context, an analysis by a Chinese professor has come to light, in which he has said that if Iran wants, it can shut down America and the Gulf countries without firing a single bullet.
Let it be known that this war started on 28 February after the joint operation between Israel and Iran. During this period, both the countries together targeted the top leadership of Iran. In which Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.
What plan did the professor suggest to Iran?
According to the professor, the biggest weakness of the Gulf region is its water sources. He says that there are very few sources of natural fresh water in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and other Gulf countries. In these countries, about 60 percent of the drinking water is prepared through the process of sweetening the salt water of the sea, i.e. desalination. For this one has to depend on big plants and machines.
The professor says that if these plants are damaged in any attack and they stop working, then within a few hours there can be a serious water crisis. In such a situation, lakhs of people may be in trouble for water and the situation may deteriorate rapidly. This will have a rapid impact on the Gulf countries and will also have an indirect impact on America.
Which country is in greater danger?
The Jubail Desalination Plant located on the coast of Saudi Arabia is considered very strategically sensitive. This plant is connected to a pipeline of about 500 kilometers long, through which water is transported to the capital Riyadh. It is said that about 90 percent of Riyadh’s water supply depends on this system.
In a revelation made through Wikileaks in 2008, a memo from the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia was mentioned. It was said in this memo that if this pipeline or its facilities are seriously damaged in any attack, then there could be a water crisis in Riyadh and there could be a need to evacuate the city within a week.
In view of this danger, in recent years, Saudi Arabia and many Gulf countries have worked on strengthening their water infrastructure, so that water supply does not depend entirely on a single system.
Food arrangements will also be affected
He also said that in Gulf countries, about 80 percent of the food items come from outside and its distribution also depends on water and supply chain. If water availability suddenly stops, food arrangements may also be affected.
Attack on water plants, how will it affect American soldiers?
According to the professor, American soldiers deployed in the Middle East also depend on local water sources. In such a situation, if a large-scale water crisis arises, it can be challenging for the military forces deployed there to handle the situation.
Regarding desalination plants, experts say that they are usually located on the sea shore, hence it is not easy to protect them. If the machines of these plants are damaged in any attack, it may take a long time to repair them. Analysts believe that such important structures have strategic importance for any country. This is the reason why in modern warfare, not only military bases but also infrastructure are being seen as potential targets.
