Air India on Thursday rejected claims circulating on social media that its aircraft had flown over restricted airspace in the Middle East amid ongoing regional tensions.
In a statement, the airline described the reports as “fake news” and said the claims do not reflect its actual flight operations or safety protocols.
“Air India does not operate flights over any restricted airspace,” the airline said, adding that its routes are planned using real-time intelligence, global aviation advisories and continuous monitoring.
The airline said operational decisions are taken with a focus on ensuring that every journey remains safe, compliant and reliable.
Air India also emphasised that safety considerations remain its top priority, particularly at a time when several airlines have adjusted routes due to airspace restrictions in parts of the Middle East.
The clarification comes as multiple carriers have been revising flight paths and suspending services in the region following heightened geopolitical tensions and temporary airspace closures.
