Washington DC: A man was dragged out of the US Senate on Wednesday by Capitol Police for protesting against the US-Israel strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran. This came as his anti-Iran outburst interrupted the proceedings of the Senate during an Armed Services subcommittee session. A video of the incident showed the protester shouting "No on wants to fight for Israel" as police forcefully dragged him out of the room.

The protester has been identified as former U.S. Mariner named Brian McGinnis and a Senate candidate from North Carolina.

McGinnis was seen shouting as he held onto the door of the Senate as cops tried to take him out. As his hand got painfully struck in the door, onlookers shouted, “His hand. Oh, his hand! Oh my God…Oh shit." The cops were heard coaxing the ex-Mariner to let go of his hand, “Sir, sir, sir. Let go of your hand. Let go the door. Let go! Let go!"

Dramatic visuals showed McGinnis being lifted in the air as cops got hold of his legs while his hand was still attached to the door.

Along with the police officers, Republican Senator Tim Sheehy was also seen forcing McGinnis out of the room. As the Senator tried to remove the latter's hand from the door, a man shouted, “The Senator broke his hand, a sitting US Senator just broke the hand of a Mariner!”

The Senator received massive backlash for his role in the episode, with people demanding his immediate resignation. A netizen said, “Seriously the most despicable thing I've seen in many years. I can't believe you aren't ashamed of yourself.”

Following criticism, Sheehy issued a statement saying he was just helping de-escalate the situation in the Senate. In a post on X, he said, “Capitol Police were attempting to remove an unhinged protestor from the Armed Services hearing. He was fighting back. I decided to help out and deescalate the situation.”

“This gentleman came to the Capitol looking for a confrontation, and he got one. I hope he gets the help he needs without causing further violence,” he further said.

Commenting on his tweet, a netizen questioned, "Tim, you have four young children. Would you be willing to send them off to the Middle East to die for Israel once they turn 18?"
