Chennai: The production team behind the highly anticipated film featuring Superstar Rajinikanth, currently referred to as #Thalaivar173, has officially announced that it will be released during the Pongal festival next year.
The announcement was made via a post on X by Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI), the production company led by Kamal Haasan. The tweet read, "ARAMBIKALAMA (Shall we begin?) #Arambikalama #Thalaivar173 #SuperStarPongal2027 #Rajinikanth @rajinikanth @ikamalhaasan @Dir_Cibi @anirudhofficial @APIfilms @homescreenent @RKFI @turmericmediaTM @magizhmandram."
The hashtag #SuperStarPongal2027 is particularly noteworthy, suggesting that the film is set to premiere during the Pongal festival in January.
For those who may not know, director Cibi Chakravarthy recently revealed that filming for this eagerly awaited project is scheduled to start in mid-April.
During a promotional event for 'Thaai Kelavi', Chakravarthy was asked about #Thalaivar173 and confirmed, "I will soon be saying 'action and cut' to the Superstar. We plan to begin shooting in mid-April."
The director has made a commitment to both Rajinikanth's fans and his family regarding the film's quality.
At a recent event for Soundarya Rajinikanth's film 'With Love', he expressed, "I am here after the announcement of #Thalaivar173. I want to assure you that when you leave the theater after watching #Thalaivar173, you will feel satisfied. It’s a promise."
Rajinikanth himself commented on the film, stating, "Shooting is set to begin in April. It will be a true commercial entertainer."
