Grocery shopping doesn't always go the way we'd planned it to. Even if we go in prepared with a list of things we need, it can be easy to get distracted and forget something. Or even bring something home that wasn't originally on our shopping list!
This was the case for one woman, who told her family she was heading out to the supermarketto do a quick grocery run, stocking up on essentials like milk and bread. However, after three hours, she returned home with something unexpectedthing that definitely wasn't on the shopping list - but the family didn't seem to mind.
Sharing the story on Reddit, the woman's daughter recalled: "After almost three hours, I was honestly thinking the store must’ve been packed." So what was the mum up to exactly?

The Redditor added: "The door finally opens and instead of grocery bags, she’s holding this tiny black kittenlike it’s the most normal thing in the world."
Apparently, the small kittenwas spotted all alone by a fence en route to the supermarket.
The kind bystander stayed in the area to look for the mama cat – including nearby bushes and by asking around in the neighbourhood – but sadly wasn't successful.
Her daughter added: "She even brought him to the vet before coming home because she was scared something might be wrong. Turns out he’s completely healthy. No microchip, no injuries, just really hungry and apparently very lucky."
So even though the mum didn't end up getting a restock of bread and milk, she did bring home a new family member who is super cute.
The Redditor said: "We now have a tiny blue-eyed void sleeping on our couch, and I don’t think anyone’s complaining."
In an update, they revealed that the small, curious, and cuddly kitten still didn't have a name. However, he seems to be settling in well.
They also asked for name suggestions and people were happy to oblige. One joked: "Her name is groceries. Congratulations task successfully completed, mum got groceries,"
Another laughed: "Coupon, because your mum is a good shopper." And a third added: "He's adorable, I love this story. Groceries are overrated."
