Singer and political influencer Nancy Grewal died at the age of 45 on Tuesday March 3 after being found with multiple stab wounds in the quiet Canadian suburb of Todd Lane, Windsor. Police and paramedics were called to the scene and Nancy was rushed to a local hospital, but she couldn't be saved and died from her injuries. The police, who have declared her death a homicide, issued a statement asking anyone with information to come forward while reassuring the public that this was a one off attack. "The LaSalle Police Service offers our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ms. Grewal. To ease public concern, we are sharing that investigators are viewing this as an isolated incident," they said.

Nancy had moved to Canada following her marriage in order to pursue her career as a singer, with her music widely available on Spotify and other platforms. She was also widely known for her outspoken views on Punjab-related political and religious issues, and had 118,000 Instagram followers who engaged with her commentary.

Her sister Alisha Grewal posted a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram. "With a very heavy heart I share that my beloved sister Nancy Grewal has passed away on 3 March 2026.

"I lost my sister, my strength, my forever friend. Rest in peace, my sister. You will always live in our hearts," she penned.

Meanwhile, the tragic star's mother Shinderpal Kaur claimed that Nancy had received several threats before her death, and that someone had previously set fire to her home a few months ago.

She told the Times of India: "She shared with me everything, from her experience with patients to the threats she faced and complaints she made to the police. That is the reason I'm fully aware of those who nursed grudges against her.

"She was keen to speak the truth on different issues and often tried to help the poor or those seeking justice. I said that if she got satisfaction from speaking the truth, she should carry on," she said.

Tributes poured in from her followers as the news became public. One wrote on Facebook: "Very sad. Nancy Grewal was a brave woman who spoke truth. May God grant peace to her soul."

Another added: "R.I.P Social Media Influencer 45 yrs old Nancy Grewal FC got murdered in Canada." A third chimed in: "I don't know. If you don't like anyone, don't listen or follow them, killing is really a solution?"

Meanwhile a fourth pennd: "This is so sad. She was outspoken... She was an advocate for free speech. God rest her soul."
