India inched one step closer to creating history and successfully defending their T20 World Cup title after defeating England in a high-scoring semifinal on March 5 in Mumbai. Sanju Samson scored 89 runs off 42 balls, smashing eight boundaries and seven maximums. Ishan Kishan (39), Shivam Dube (43), Hardik Pandya (27) and Tilak Varma (21*) also made crucial contributions to help India set a 254-run target.
England, despite making a disappointing start, went head-to-head in the match with Jacob Bethell hitting a stunning hundred. However, some brilliant bowling by Bumrah at the death proved to be a massive difference as the hosts won the match by seven runs to reach the World Cup final. The Men in Blue will take on New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad on March 8.
