Public sector lender Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced a reduction in the daily ATM cash withdrawal limit for several debit card variants. The revised limits will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
According to the bank, the change will apply only to specific debit card categories, while the withdrawal limits for other cards will remain unchanged. PNB stated that the decision has been taken to enhance customer security, reduce financial risks, and encourage digital banking transactions.
Cash Withdrawal Limit Reduced by Up to 50%
Under the new rules, the daily ATM withdrawal limit on several debit cards has been reduced by nearly 50 percent.
For certain debit cards where the limit was previously ₹1 lakh per day, customers will now be able to withdraw a maximum of ₹50,000 per day from ATMs.
Debit Cards Affected by the ₹1 Lakh to ₹50,000 Limit Change
The revised limit will apply to the following debit cards issued by **Punjab National Bank:

Customers using these debit cards will now be able to withdraw only up to ₹50,000 per day from ATMs.
Premium Debit Cards Also See Limit Reduction
PNB has also revised the ATM withdrawal limit for some premium debit card variants.
For these cards, the daily withdrawal limit has been reduced from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹75,000.
Debit Cards Affected by the ₹1.5 Lakh to ₹75,000 Change
The revised limits apply to the following cards:

Customers holding these cards will now be able to withdraw a maximum of ₹75,000 per day from ATMs.
No Change for Other Debit Cards
The bank clarified that debit cards not mentioned in the updated list will continue to operate under the existing withdrawal limits. Customers using those cards will not see any change in their daily ATM cash withdrawal limits.
Customers Can Modify ATM Withdrawal Limits
PNB customers also have the option to set or reset ATM withdrawal limits within the permitted range.
Customers can adjust the limits through several channels, including:

WhatsApp banking
These digital services allow customers to customize their withdrawal preferences for better financial control and security.
No Impact on POS or Online Transactions
PNB has clarified that the new rule applies only to ATM cash withdrawals.
The change will not affect transaction limits for POS (Point-of-Sale) payments, e-commerce purchases, or contactless payments made using debit cards.
Customers can continue to use their cards for online shopping, card swipes, and digital payments under the existing limits.
How to Change ATM Withdrawal Limit Online
Customers who want to modify their withdrawal limits can follow these steps:

Log in to PNB Internet Banking.

Go to the Value Added Services section.

Select Debit Card Personalisation.

Enter your card details and set the desired withdrawal limit.

Complete OTP verification to confirm the change.
Once verified, the new withdrawal limit will be activated.
The revised ATM withdrawal limits are part of PNB’s broader effort to strengthen transaction security and encourage digital payment adoption. Customers are advised to check their debit card category and plan withdrawals accordingly after the new rule comes into effect on April 1, 2026.
