UP's Vision for Tourism Growth

UP News: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is propelling Uttar Pradesh towards new heights of development, making it a prime destination for tourists. The state is witnessing an influx of millions of domestic and international visitors daily, largely due to the extensive development in Ayodhya and Kashi, which have attracted numerous pilgrims and tourists.

New Developments in Agra

The Yogi government is now focusing on transforming Agra into a vibrant center for tourism and entertainment. Plans are underway to ensure that Agra is not just known for its monuments but becomes one of the world's most beautiful tourist destinations.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has initiated plans to develop 'New Agra' as a premier tourism and entertainment hub. Under the Master Plan 2041, this new city will feature modern amenities such as a riverfront, theme parks, and wellness centers, aimed at attracting tourists.

Green Spaces and Walkways

To enhance the natural environment, YEIDA plans to create a 'Green River Buffer Zone' spanning 823.7 hectares along the banks of the Yamuna. This area will offer boating facilities and beautiful walkways, along with a variety of colorful flowers and rare plants to ensure clean air. The development will occur in three phases, covering an area of 14,480 hectares, accommodating 1.5 million residents and workers.

Wellness and Handicrafts Integration

Additionally, New Agra is set to become a significant center for wellness tourism, featuring a 'Biophilic Wellness Center' that will offer yoga, Ayurvedic massages, and natural therapies to promote mental and physical health. The city will also support local arts, with designated areas for traditional handicrafts such as pottery, wood carving, textile dyeing, and painting.

Sports and Recreation Facilities

New Agra will also cater to recreational needs, with plans for an international-standard golf course and a state-of-the-art sports village, both covering 100 hectares. Additionally, a biodiversity park is proposed for 40 hectares, with 3.08% of the new city, approximately 460 hectares, reserved for entertainment and greenery.

Luxury Accommodations Planned

According to ACEO YEIDA, Shailendra Bhatia, the master plan designates 405 hectares for tourism, including luxury and budget hotels, resorts, and exhibition centers. As this area falls under the Taj Trapezium Zone (TTZ), industries that pollute will be strictly prohibited, allowing only those with a pollution score below 20. This initiative aims to preserve the beauty of the Taj Mahal and the surrounding environment. Currently, public feedback is being sought on the revised master plan before development begins.
