Karnataka budget 2026: CM Siddaramaiah outlines '11G Economic Model' for development

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday presented the Karnataka State Budget and introduced what he described as the “11G Economic Model”, a development framework aimed at ensuring sustainable growth and social welfare in the state.

Presenting his 17th budget in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said the government is working towards building a distinct Karnataka development model focused on balanced growth, welfare programmes and economic expansion.

According to Siddaramaiah, the proposed “11G Economic Model” outlines key areas that will guide the state’s development policies.

The first component, Guarantee Economy, focuses on welfare schemes and aims to promote social justice and gender equality.

The second element, Good Public Education, stresses strengthening government schools and improving access to quality education to support inclusive development.

Under Good Health to All, the government aims to expand healthcare services and improve medical facilities across the state.

The Grassroots Economy focuses on agriculture, rural development and welfare programmes designed to support farmers and rural communities.

The fifth component, Good Governance, aims to promote transparent and citizen-friendly administration.

The Gig Economy initiative is intended to introduce labour welfare measures for people working in gig-based jobs.

Another focus area is Geographical Equality, which seeks to reduce regional imbalances and promote development in all parts of the state.

Through Global Trade Economy, the government plans to encourage trade, industrial development and economic growth.

The Globe-Trotting Economy component highlights tourism as an important driver of economic activity.

The model also includes a Green Economy, which emphasises environmentally sustainable development and the use of renewable energy.

The final component, Growing Urban Economy, focuses on sustainable urban development and strengthening economic activities in cities.

The Chief Minister said these 11 focus areas together form the foundation of the state’s development strategy.
