Efforts to save children from mobile addiction
The Chief Minister said that due to the increasing use of mobile and social media among young children, many types of problems are emerging. Keeping this in view, the government is considering bringing such a rule by which the use of social media can be limited or banned for children below 16 years of age.
The government believes that due to unrestricted access to smartphones, children have started spending more time on social media. This is also affecting their studies, behavior and mental health.
Increased concern over screen time and mental health
In recent years, it has been seen that screen time has increased rapidly among teenagers. In many cases, children have started spending more time on mobile and social media than studying. Apart from this, access to wrong or harmful content is also becoming a big concern.
Keeping these issues in mind, Siddaramaiah had also discussed this topic in a meeting with the Vice Chancellors of government universities and sought their opinion on the possible impact of this proposal.
Important steps for society
Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad said on this issue that today almost every family is struggling with the problem of excessive mobile use by children. In such a situation, this proposal of the government is being considered very important for the society.
He said that during the budget speech, the government has made it clear that it intends to ban the use of social media by children below 16 years of age.
Karnataka can become the first state in the country
