China’s largest toll station Wuzhuang was swamped by a post-holiday traffic surge as nearly 150,000 vehicles poured through in a single day.
The Wuzhuang toll station in Anhui Province handled 148,800 vehicles after the Lunar New Year break, roughly triple its usual daily volume, as travelers made their way back to cities.
Aerial footage showed endless lines of vehicles stretching across numerous lanes, creating a striking scene that some likened to a massive New Year gathering of cars. Even with the extraordinary traffic load, management systems were put in place to keep congestion from spiraling out of control.
