A busy section of the M6 has been closed with traffic at a complete standstill after a "police incident". The northbound carriageway on the major UK motorway has been shut between juntion 28 for Leyland and juntion 30 for Bamber Bridge.
National Highways North West posted on X saying: "The #M6 in #Lancashire is CLOSED northbound between J28 (#Leyland) and J30 (#BamberBridge) due to a Police incident. If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time." Traffic monitoring service Inrix similarly reported: "M6 Northbound closed, stationary traffic due to police incident from J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland) to J30 M61. Junction J28 M6 (Leyland) Northbound has also now been closed for the Police Incident."
