Team India suffered an early setback when Smriti Mandhana was dismissed cheaply in the second innings of the only Test against Australia at WACA Ground.
The left-handed batter's innings lasted a mere two balls. Darcie Brown delivered a decent length ball that stayed close to the off-stump. Mandhana was unsure whether to hit a cut or a drive and in the process, managed to get the ball on the inside edge and shatter the stumps.
The wicket was celebrated by the Australians and in just 0.2 overs, the Indian women's cricket team was 2 for 1. A massive blow as Mandhana is one of India's more experienced batters and this was not her first dismissal in quick time as she managed only four runs before she was dismissed in the first innings.

India Under Pressure After Early Wickets
The fall of Mandhana's wicket was the first of many in India's innings. Shafali Verma was out for just five runs. Jemimah Rodrigues stuck it out and scored 14 runs before she was also dismissed. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur played a disappointing cameo innings as she was dismissed for 11.
With 64 runs for 4 down after 14 overs, the Indian team was still trailing Australia by 61 runs. Only Pratika Rawal put up some resistance, unbeaten on the crease at that moment.
In their first innings, Australia amassed a total of 323. All-rounder Annabel Sutherland scored a massive 129 and carried her side well in the Test match. For India, Sayali Satghare was the star performer in the bowling department, with four wickets, while Deepti Sharma and Kranti Gaud chipped in with three wickets between them.
The Indian women's cricket team, in their first innings scored just 198, and hence trailed the Australians by 125 runs. India need their middle order to show some fight to get closer to the Australian first innings total.
