Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday sent the eighth batch of 30 principals of government schools in the state to Singapore for training. All these principals will receive special training at the Principal Academy of Singapore from 8 to 14 March.
What did Chief Minister Mann say?
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the objective of this initiative is to acquaint teachers and school heads with the global education system and to further strengthen the government education system of Punjab. The Chief Minister said that the aim of the state government is not just to construct school buildings, but to provide world class quality education to the children. Under this thinking, teachers and principals are being sent to international level training programs so that they can understand modern education methods and new teaching methods. He said that this will bring positive changes in the education system and students will get a better learning environment.
According to the government, so far 234 principals and eight batches of education officers have been sent to Singapore for training. For this, a completely transparent selection process has been adopted. Verification of the selected principals was also done by the District Education Officers, after which they were included in this training program. After completion of the training, these principals share their experiences with other teachers and students, so that new thinking and better teaching methods can be implemented in schools.
What did CM say regarding education?
The Chief Minister said that the reforms being done in the education sector have started showing positive results. In the National Achievement Survey conducted by the Government of India, the students of Punjab have performed brilliantly, leaving Kerala behind and achieved the first position. He said that students are being given special coaching for army preparation as well as for competitive examinations like NEET, JEE, CLAT and NIFT. Around 300 students from Schools of Eminence and other government schools have qualified for exams like JEE Mains, JEE Advanced and NEET.
The Chief Minister said that in the coming times, a person’s prosperity will not be measured by his wealth but by the education received by his children. Therefore, the state government is making continuous efforts to provide better and quality education to every child. He also said that on the eve of International Women’s Day, the daughter of a farmer from Punjab has secured 15th position in the UPSC exam, which is a matter of pride for the entire state.
Response to political issues
During this, the Chief Minister also gave his reaction on many political issues. He said that the state government will strongly oppose the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 as it interferes with the rights of the states. He also targeted the opposition parties and Akali leader Sukhbir Singh Badal and said that the people of Punjab now want to move towards development and better governance.
The Chief Minister said that amid the increasing tension in the Middle East, 385 people from Punjab stranded there have been identified, out of which about 300 are in the United Arab Emirates. The state government is in touch with the central government to ensure their safe return.
He also said that a big project of Tata Steel worth about Rs 3,200 crore is going to start on March 20, which will create new employment opportunities for the youth and strengthen the economy of the state. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains and many other dignitaries were also present.
