Marichyasana is known after the sage ‘Marichi’. The word ‘Marichyasana’ is derived from Sanskrit. In this, ‘Marich’ means ray of light (sun or moon ray) and ‘Asana’ means sitting posture or yoga position. By practicing this asana regularly, this asana stretches the muscles of the shoulders, waist, neck and legs. It also has a positive effect on the digestive system.
According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Marichyasana is an effective yoga asana for increasing flexibility in the spine, improving digestion and managing diabetes. This asana revives the working capacity in the body. Its regular practice improves blood circulation, reduces stress and activates many abdominal organs, such as liver, kidney, spleen, stomach, pancreas, small intestine, gall bladder and reproductive system.
It is very easy to do this. To do this, first of all sit on the ground in Dandasana posture. Now bend your right knee and place your left hand outside your right thigh. While exhaling, turn to the right and look backwards. If possible, hold your hands behind your back. Take 5-10 deep breaths and repeat on the other side. In the beginning, do the asana slowly and under the supervision of a yoga teacher. Pay full attention to breathing, do not hurry.
Regular yoga not only improves physical health but also provides mental peace. This asana makes the body flexible and keeps the mind calm. At the same time, breathing properly and concentrating is the biggest secret of this asana.
