A Southwest Airlines flight en route from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale was redirected to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Friday evening due to what the airline termed a "potential security issue." The aircraft, designated as Flight 2094, landed safely in Atlanta around 21:06 local time. Following the landing, a passenger was taken off the plane by officers from the Atlanta Police Department, as reported by FOX5 Atlanta.

Social media footage captured the scene inside the aircraft, showing passengers with their hands raised while police detained a male individual. In the video, law enforcement can be seen handcuffing the passenger and escorting him away from the plane.

In a statement, Southwest Airlines confirmed that the diversion was necessary to address a "possible security matter." However, officials have not disclosed the specific actions or statements made by the passenger that led to the diversion and police intervention. It remains uncertain if any hazardous items were discovered on the aircraft, according to FOX5 Atlanta.

The Atlanta Police Department has yet to provide additional information regarding the detained passenger's status or any potential charges. After the police activity concluded, all passengers were transferred to another aircraft and continued their journey to Fort Lauderdale, arriving safely just before 3:30 am.
