Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt has opened up on the loss of his entire fortune after his dad "stole" all of his money. The 47-year-old actor found fame on the ITV soap where he portrayed Nick Tilsley in the late nineties, before going on to work in the music industry and releasing a pop hit I Breath Again in 1999. Years on from his exit, he has opened up onVanessa Feltz' TV show where they discussed family feuds, prompting Adam to speak on his own experience.
He told the host that a simple search shares his net work as a figure that is far higher than actuality, because his dad "stole" all his money, adding: "And he did it three times". Adam explained that even though he was just 18 years old and did both Corrie and had a growing pop career with money coming in, it kept going to his dad and he "kept losing it".
Adam explained that his father was an incredibly successful merchant banker and was pulling in millions a year, but claimed he was a "flaming alcoholic". He continued: "I kept lending him money, he kept wasting it, but then he would make money." However, he said rather than being paid back, he would spend it on his friends.
It prompted the pair to fall out for "15 years". They did eventually reconnect, but Adam said his dad was left "penniless" and had his home re-possessed due to the debt. Speaking of the relationship with his late father, he told the host that it "healed, but never repaired".
He weighed in on the Brooklyn Beckham and David Beckham drama, as he shared from his own experience that he thinks they'll reconnect, but that the relationship won't be the same as it once was.

Vanessa asked him why he wanted to reconnect with his father after the experience he had, and Adam admitted that he later realised that his father was "still a human being", and said his dad acted a certain way because "he was an unwanted child". He claimed that his dad blew all of his money on purpose so that he would feel like his family needed to depend on him financially.
He admitted that it was when he had that realisation that he decided to reconnect with his dad.
Adam rose to fame on Corrie in the late 90s as Nick, who is now played by Ben Price. He later landed a role in Shortland Street, before leaving the Aussie soap in 2010 and now lives a life away from the spotlight with his wife, presenter and journalist Katy Rickitt, where he owns a craft beer pub Dexter and Jones in Cheshire.
