T20 World Cup Final: 'Six' of hotels in Ahmedabad! Skyrocketing jump of 400% in room rents

Before the T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand, the rent of hotel rooms in Ahmedabad has increased by 300 to 400 percent. An industry representative gave this information on Saturday. The representative said that due to this much-awaited match to be held at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, there has been a huge increase in the demand for hotel rooms. Let us also tell you what kind of information has come to light regarding hotel rent.

400 percent jump in hotel rent

President of Hotel and Restaurant Association of Gujarat, Narendra Somani said that due to cricket lovers coming from India and abroad for this decisive match, the accommodation rates have increased significantly. He said that the rooms which were earlier available for Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000, have seen a jump of 300 to 400 percent in their rates and now they have reached between Rs 15,000 to Rs 50,000. Somani said that even on online booking platforms, there is a tremendous increase in the prices of major hotels.

Deluxe fare crosses Rs 2 lakh

He told that the fare of a 'deluxe room' for Sunday night at Taj Skyline on Sindhu Bhawan Road has reached Rs 2.01 lakh and on this, Goods and Services Tax (GST) of Rs 36,000 will be payable separately. Generally the rent of these rooms ranges between Rs 9,000 to Rs 15,000, which has now increased almost 20 times. Somani said that similarly, the fares of major hotels like Welcome Hotel and Hyatt Regency on Ashram Road have also seen an increase of three to four times as compared to the normal rates. These rooms are being booked for around Rs 20,000 to 30,000 for the match night.

80 percent rooms full in Ahmedabad

According to Somani, there are around 10,000 hotel rooms of all categories in Ahmedabad. Due to the match, about 80 percent of the rooms in the hotels in the city and surrounding areas are expected to be filled on Sunday. He also said that due to expensive hotel prices, many spectators are choosing other options instead of staying overnight and some are staying in Gandhinagar, 25 kilometers away, while a large number of fans are planning to return after watching the match on the same day.

Big boost to local economy

Business groups say that the World Cup final is becoming a big economic opportunity for Ahmedabad, which is benefiting hotels, restaurants, transport services, tourism operators and local handicraft sellers. Sanjeev Chhajed of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that visitors are coming from all over India and abroad, due to which business activity has increased in all sectors. Hospitality representatives said the final has helped hotels achieve good occupancy in a short period of time, with the industry expecting 50-60 per cent growth during the match weekend alone.
