New Zealand recently won the home T20 series against Pakistan by 4-1 and the ODI series by 3-0. Their victory is important because many of their key players could not play in this series due to their participation in the Indian Premier League. It also reached the final of the Champions Trophy and before that, New Zealand had clean swept India for the first time in a three-match series. Amidst all these achievements the team coach has resigned. Gary Steade has confirmed that he will no longer coach New Zealand in T20 and ODI formats and is considering his future in Test cricket.

Stede said it could take up to a month to reach a final decision. The 53-year-old Steady took over from Mike Hesson in 2018 and was New Zealand’s coach across all formats. New Zealand Cricket said it will advertise for coaching positions next week but has not yet decided whether it will appoint different coaches for different formats.

He also said that next month he will get a chance to sit and think with his family, so that he can decide whether he wants to apply again for test coaching or not. Talking about his decision, Stede said, “I want to take some time away from the tournament and think about my future. The last six-seven months have been very busy, and now I want to consider my options. I still feel I have coaching left in me, but maybe not for all formats.”
