Roads closed in Ahmedabad, traffic movement restricted

According to a report in the Hindustan Times, commuters and officials travelling around the Narendra Modi Stadium will face restrictions. They have been asked to plan their travel after looking at the diversion routes, said a police officer.

During the match, there will be no traffic movement allowed on the stretch from Janpath T-junction to Motera Stadium Main Gate via Krupa Residency T-junction up to Motera Gam T-junction, said officials. The traffic police urged motorists to avoid this stretch of the road during the match.

Vehicles will also face diversions around Tapovan. Those travelling between Tapovan Circle towards ONGC Crossroads via Janpath T-junction are advised to take internal routes and follow road diversions in place in the area. Vehicles coming from Krupa Residency T-junction, should take the left connecting road and continue through the alternate route, the indicators for which are already in place, said traffic advisory.

Apart from route diversions, the police have also put curfew like restrictions in some designated spots. These restrictions will remain in place from 10 am of March 8 to 2 am on March 9, 2026.

Any violation of the orders, will invite legal action, said police officials. They said that violators can be charged under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act.
