Copper Water Side Effects: Drinking water is important for health but Ayurveda says that the nature of every body is different. Tamra Jal (copper water) is hot and pungent in nature which is beneficial for some people and can cause serious health problems for others.

In Indian tradition, drinking water kept in a copper vessel is considered extremely beneficial for health. From Ayurveda to modern science confirm its many benefits. Copper is helpful in purifying water and increasing digestion power. But do you know that this same copper water can cause huge harm instead of benefit to some people. According to Ayurveda, the effect of any substance depends on the nature of the person (Vata, Pitta, Kapha).

People with bile nature should be careful

Copper water is hot and pungent by nature. It not only increases the digestive fire in the body but also increases bile. People whose body already has Pitta tendency or who suffer from heat in the body should avoid copper water. Increase in bile can increase problems like heartburn, skin rashes and acidity.

Who should not drink copper water?

Both Ayurveda and science recommend not drinking copper water in certain situations.

Liver and kidney patients

If you are suffering from any disease to liver or kidney problem then copper water can be risky for you. This can disrupt the filtering process of the organs, increasing the risk of excess copper in the body.

diabetes

This water is also not suitable for diabetic patients in every situation. The body may have to work extra hard to balance the amount of sugar in the blood.

small children

The digestive power of children is not as fast as that of adults. Digesting heavy copper water on an empty stomach in the morning can be challenging for their delicate system.

Modern research shows that excess copper in the body increases the pressure on the blood vessels. This can not only unbalance blood sugar but can also damage the liver in the long run.

Before consuming copper water, it is important to understand your physical condition. If you are healthy and your nature is Kapha or Vata dominant then this is nectar for you. But for Pitta dominant or serious patients, it is better to take expert advice.
