BBC viewers will no doubt wonder what it's like working with some of the broadcaster's top presenters. Resident GP Dr. Helen Wall has made more than 80 appearances on BBC Breakfast and Morning Live since 2022, offering her expertise on health-related stories in the news. Helen is now somewhat familiar about what goes on behind the scenes and has discussed what it's like appearing alongside some of the BBC's biggest stars.
She exclusively told the Express: "I've been doing BBC Breakfast for just over four years now and Morning Live for a couple of years in short spells. I've worked with a range of presenters. They're all absolutely lovely. It's a joy going on for morning television. The getting up can be quite hard, but being there, I absolutely love it on both sets."
Helen had glowing praise for the BBC Breakfast team, particularly presenter Jon Kay, but had equally nice things to say about those who work on Morning Live.
"The Morning Live team are all absolutely amazing. I'm not just saying that. It's a joy to be there. They're so friendly and we have a laugh," the public health leader admitted.
"I've worked with several of the presenters including Gethin Jones, Michelle Ackerley, Kym Marsh, Rav Wilding, they're all really good guys to get on with. It doesn't feel like you're on telly."
Helen, who received the Woman of the Year Award at the She Inspires Awards in 2022, added: "It just feels like you're there with some mates having a chat. When the cameras aren't rolling, you're usually having a chat and a laugh. It doesn't feel like work and that's what I like about it."
Appearing on the programme adds a variety to Helen's week, as she spends a lot of her time with patients - something she also loves.
Acknowledging that BBC morning programmes are by no means the same, Helen revealed she could receive the call to appear on BBC Breakfast the night before, whereas Morning Live operates in a different way.
She explained: "You tend to get some notice with that. It can be anything from two weeks or longer. It's a bit more planned. You have the topic and get to speak to the production team on a couple of occasions about what kinds of things you're going to talk about," she said.
"You usually have four or five key points and get cue cards. We rehearse to a certain extent what we're going to talk about and what we're going to be asked and how we're going to put that information across to the public in a clear way."
