India Registers Highest Team Score in T20 World Cup Finals

India rewrote the record books with a sensational batting effort, posting the highest team score in T20 World Cup Finals.

During the T20 World Cup 2026 finals, India went on to post a solid 255 runs in their 20-over innings.

The Indian batters maintained an aggressive approach throughout the innings, piling up runs and setting a new benchmark in the tournament.

After being invited to bat first, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson made an aggressive start, scoring 92 runs, which is the Highest Powerplay Total in the T20 World Cup.

India had troubles during the initial stages of this edition of the tournament. However, bringing in Sanju Samson, India’s top-order woes were settled.

Abhishek Sharma, who did not have an impressive campaign, stepped up in the finals and added scores to the scorecard for India.

Abhishek Sharma went on to slam an 18-ball fifty and lost his wicket for 52 runs to Rachin Ravindra. From a wide delivery, Abhishek Sharma lost balance reaching for it.

India also made a record for smashing the fastest 100 in the T20 World Cup knockouts. They reached a hundred in 7.2 overs, which is the current best.

India went on to score 203 runs for the second wicket, where Sanju Samson got dismissed for 89 runs.

Jimmy Neesham bagged his second wicket of Ishan Kishan (54) and Suryakumar Yadav for a golden duck.

After Hardik’s dismissal for 18 runs, Shivam Dube, who came to bat, went on to score 26 runs in 8 deliveries with a strike rate of 325.

The previous highest score was also from India during the 2024 finals against South Africa, where they scored 176 runs.

Australia stands third in the list after chasing 173 run target against New Zealand in the 2021 finals.
